Al, my darling, what on earth were you thinking?

Birds with swords.  Look, it’s adorable that it was written by a 14-year-old girl.  That’s cute as can be.  And the writing isn’t too terrible and the pictures are cute.  That said, it’s not a good book.  And what with its presence on the New York Times Bestseller list, I doubt it needs the publicity.

Kvetch kvetch kvetch.

    Oh thank you for saying that it’s not a good book. I was afraid to say anything because it’s a little girl author, but I have never tried so hard to get into a book, to like a book, as much as this one and utterly failed.

    I’ve read worse, but that’s just me damning with faint praise more than anything else. If we can’t say that 14-year-old adorable girls can’t write, then what can we say?
