Fusenews: The Bro Code and the Broken Dawn

Not much today.  Everyone appears to be on vacation (or returning from the SCBWI Conference in L.A.) and I didn’t have much time to troll the blogs tonight.  Mea culpa.  I’ll make it up to you tomorrow.

  • I am perhaps not the biggest fan of Twilight in the whole wide world.  Sorry, I know you all love it but oogie and ick.  If any of you perhaps share my less than overwhelmed reaction to it then this will make you exceedingly happy.  It’s a comic.  And has anyone else noticed what the fan reaction has been to Breaking Dawn?  I’m feeling particularly happy but then I too had figured the spoiler was a fake.  Just goes to show.  My husband points out that this is a very similar situation to the fourth Anne Rice book.  And Anne Rice swore that she was going to end with that book, and then went on to make more.  Hmmm.  UPDATE: Uh-oh. I think I broke that comic link.  I’ll keep it up in case it comes back, though. It’s worth it.

  • Speaking of books with a high loved it/hated it contingent the article Creating the Innocent Killer: Ender’s Game, Intention, and Morality which originally appeared in a slightly different form in Foundation, the International Review of Science Fiction (Vol. 33, Number 90, Spring 2004) is now available for viewing online.  I remember liking that book the first time I read it, but if they ever get that filmed version off the ground I suppose I’ll have to read it again.

Playhouse Disney UK
picks up the new preschool animated series Claude (52×10).  Produced by UK-based Dot To Dot and Red and Blue Productions , Claude follows a young polar bear who makes the big move from his home in the Arctic to the big city.  Animated by Ireland by Dinamo Productions , Claude is based on the books by illustrator David Wojtowycz.

  • Daily Image:

It’s called "Molecular Dog/C3H8".  If you need any more explanation than that then I suggestion you check out Oz and Ends ASAP.

Yep. Just back from the SCBWI Conference. Leonard Marcus, in his workshop, said yours was THE blog to visit!!!

  2. Fuse #8 says:

Whaaa? Leonard said that? Really? Really really? I had no idea he’d even seen my site. I mean, we always end up arriving early to events here in New York and he’s very nice to me but I’ve had the vague sense that he likes me fine but was so busy with actual books and writing that he doesn’t look at too many blogs. Shoot, I should go and buy that man a drink. Thanks so much for the info, Lisa!
