A long time ago when videos were just invented (and cost about $100, believe it or not) a company made a stop-action version of Tuesday. i think I stood in front of their booth at ALA and laughed and laughed for hours. They told me that the most expensive part of the production was the TV-watching part where the frog used its tongue to work the remote. It had to be animated, not stop-action. Naturally I worked to get our library to purchase it. –wendieO

First of all, I’m sad about Dog Heaven, one of my top ten picks. Ah well. Second of all, I realized with dismay when I woke up this morning that I’d completely forgotten to list one of my favorite books of all time: The Little Fur Family, by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by one of my favorite illustrators: Garth Williams. How could I have forgotten? Maybe someone else remembered and it will surface soon. . .

I actually said “Yes!” out loud at my desk when I saw it on the list today. I give this book to patrons all the time. One of the funniest picture books out there.

I was one of those jaded kids who thought the only scary thing about those books was the pictures. Except for that story about The Windigo. That tale friggin’ freaked me out.
