Teachers can use the stunning pictures of Waiting for Winter as great visual and non-verbal clues. Great pick for the winter!

What a riot this book is! My 7 year old, who loves art & wildlife, was really intrigued by the illustrations and how they "made you know the animals feelings." She just laughed out loud now recalling the characters confusion about what snow really looks like. And she said "tell those people that book is great too!"

While with a customer the other day, we read this aloud to her two young girls. They just cackled with laughter. The mother commented on the illustrations and how they made it look like the squirrel was actually running around the pages. A definite big hit!

We lived in Germany for 2 years so just letting you know... Yes, deer in Germany are "short and squat with ram-like horns" - very unlike ours in the USA. See pictures at: eurosafari.com/hunting-species.htm

Kane-Miller books is a great way to subtly teach children about other countries.

I want an interview with that man, as you know. My five-year-old and I read this book, laughed till we nearly couldn't breathe (seriously), and then immediately read it again.

And on top of all of that, I love the kinetic energy of the cover illustration. It vibrates with an interesting tension, a sense of anticipation, of 'something's about to happen.' I will definitely hunt up a copy of this one.
