I had to rework everything this Sunday when I watched this amazing performance from, of all things, Ukraine’s Got Talent. Apparently this woman won the competition drawing the history of WWII from the p.o.v. of Ukraine. Not hard to see why. This is illustration at work. Thanks to Jane Yolen for the link!
Zombie sock puppet interview technology has come a long ways from the days when I interviewed with the wild and wonderful ladies of the Pacific Northwest SCBWI crew. And Dan Yaccarino gets mucho points for participating in this lovely little interview. A great big thank you to Jaime Temairik for passing this on to me. And how coincidental was it that Chasing Ray chose to highlight this book this week?
In case you missed it there’s a brand new Where the Wild Things Are trailer out there. I’m getting a little jealous of the current generation of kids. Just a little. We had The Neverending Story with its puppetry. Kids today get this puppetry.
Nice work getting in that "I’ll eat you up, I love you so." Thanks to Eric Carpenter for the link.
Speaking of book to movie adaptations . . .

Fellow SLJ blogger Joyce Valenza has posted several videos from ALA that are worth watching. If you ever wanted to know what all the fuss was about when it came to Neil Gaiman and Ashley Bryan’s acceptance speeches, she has posted them. She has also posted an S&S lunch that I was unable to go to with newbie author Mac Barnett.
So how do you go about making your own book trailer? Autor Megan Crewe created one for her book Give Up the Ghost, as many people do. Unlike many people, however, she has gone so far as to explain the process as well. It’s sort of a behind-the-scenes making of. Very useful for anyone out there thinking of doing the same.
And finally, I found a truly delightful video for our final off-topic vid of the day. A 1930s look at what we’d all be wearing in the year 2000. There is nothing that I do no like about this.
He may have been right about the candies for cuties. Thanks to BB-Blog for the link.

The ‘Ukraine’s Got Talent’ video blew me begin toaway and I still haven’t entirely recovered. ‘Amazing’ doesn’t to cover it.
Hmmm… The first attempt at posting my comment seems to have gotten a bit scrambled. Let’s try that again:
“The ‘Ukraine’s Got Talent’ video blew me away and I still haven’t entirely recovered. ‘Amazing’ doesn’t begin to cover it.”
