One of my nieces adores the Rainbow Fairies books and I sent her an ARC of this with no small trepidation, but she liked it, even with the illustrations missing. I read it first when I was little and was mildly shocked (not in a horrified way, just in a surprised way) with, well...the end. Although, thinking about it after I read it again later for fun, it really isn't so awful after all, the author makes it sort of peaceful, although I suppose it didn't have to be that way. Anyway. I agree, I've yet to read a bad or even middling book by Laura Amy Schlitz. Of course, I only read "A Drowned Maiden's Hair" and "Good Masters! Sweet Ladies!". However, I loved them both! She also grows and changes in the story but never loses the spunk that's at her core. And the book itself is a pleasure to hold as well as read. Yay for THE NIGHT FAIRY!!
