Actually, Delphine does figure out that her name is derived from the sea mammal, if you look at pp. 84-85. But then I looked a little further. That said, One Crazy Summer is Williams-Garcia's best work. On the YA front, Jumped is getting a lot of attention because it was a NBA finalist, but my personal favorite is Every Time A Rainbow Dies. Regardless of character age-level, I would classify No Laughter Here as a YA novel because of the subject matter, and I believe Harper marketed it that way.
