Yay! The Saturdays! (I voted for one of the other ones, can’t remember which, but it matters not.) Fabulous dialogue indeed.

I am dismayed to hear the Inga Moore version of WitW was truncated!!? Oh dear. I sure do love that woman’s art. =(

For so long I had no idea there was any other mention of the BFG other than that in Danny the Champion of the World. A whole book, you say? Nah, you must be joking. But then, there it was. Pretty amazing.

One of the Enright books (I think the Four Story Mistake) is read on the Tumblebooks site. I discovered it late one night and listened to Randy spraining her ankle ice skating in the woods.

In 5th or 6th grade, I recall dressing up as Toad (dressed as a washerwoman)to present my Wind in the Willows book report. In my mind, I was a dead-ringer for the disguised Toad. It is the only book report that I remember from my school days. Thankfully, no photos were taken. I still love this book. I think it’s time for a re-reading.

I hate to admit I haven’t read Dahl’s _BFG_ (sort of a nonfiction nut…and *loved* his biographical _Going Solo_!), but just have to note how sweet it is that Dahl’s granddaughter is named “Sophie!”

Betsy, Since you mention The Secret Garden today,I wonder when we reach SG could you share what your bookgroup kids thought about the book? It circulates in my library when the kids have a classics genre assignment, but not so much otherwise. I was never able to interest my now 19 year old widely read daughter,in SG even as a read aloud. Thanks!
