I clearly remember my 4th grade teacher reading Maniac Magee aloud to our class the year after it won the Newbery. It was a book I would have never picked up myself but it has stayed with me all these years.

Wow, I have a list of 25 titles I’m thinking could make an appearance in these final 17 spots and I completely forgot about Maniac. All this tells me is that there are a number of titles I will be shocked to learn didn’t make it into the top 100 at all.

I love Amanda Beale so much. I’m tickled to hear she’s based on someone Spinelli actually knew!

I made a list of books last night that I think will be the remaining ones. This is one of them, so so far I’m all right… but I still have no idea what ORDER to put any of them!
