Agreed. The trailer doesn’t do the book justice. In large part this is because they edited down an already short story. Something gets lost along the way.

This book really is a little work of genius, sort of Elephant & Piggie with little girls. I adore it. And I’m with you–this had better be the beginning of a series, or somebody’s head is gonna roll. You nailed it when you said it is Tony Fucile who makes us fall in love with these girlies. His work here is brilliant.

And I have to say, no disrespect to the authors intended (the girls are their creation, after all), but I felt like their voicing of the girls in the trailer is… let’s just say, uninspiring. I hope people won’t judge this book on what they hear there, because the book truly is marvelous, and when read with enthusiasm and personality, the magic comes through.

I ordered this at the beginning of the month. I look forward to everything Kate DiCamillo does, and I’m excited to read that it’s as terrific as I thought it would be. Our patrons will be very happy as well!

We have an “easy chapter book” section in our library. We’ll probably put Bink and Gollie there.
