I hadn't really thought about it before, but you're right! The kids in her novels always have these awesome school projects. Teachers should read her novels for homework ideas alone.

I liked this story very much. Clare was very different than most of my students. I think they will be amazed by all she manages to do. And totally love the skating. What I love about Kate's writing is how she nails middle school dynamics and dialogue and still manages to keep it gentle without sounding saccharine. Plus, her characters are always doing such interesting stuff in their schools.
