Christmas 2011: Your bloggy fruitcake offering

Merry with the Christmas (and happy with the holidays) to one and all!  Throughout the year I collect the goodies I find along the way, until at long last I bunch ’em all together, tie ’em up with tinsel, and sprinkle the whole lot with nutmeg and present it to you.  Think of this as the blog equivalent of a first-grader’s homemade ornament.  And I made it just for you!!

Last year Phil Nel did what I can only describe as the ultimate How the Grinch Stole Christmas post in which he managed to conjure up at least fifteen different versions of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”.  This year, he came up with the Holiday Mix Redux and, even better, the Top 12 Covers of 2011.  That should last you the rest of the day.

In my family (and this particularly appropriate considering its author’s recent death) we watch Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas.  Fun stuff.  Even more fun was this website which turns television and movies into 1980s style video games.  Hence, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Motorcross.  Thanks to James Kennedy for the link.

And then, of course, there’s this take:

Well played, John McCoy.  Well played indeed.

Finally, a couple videos to amuse you (it is Sunday, after all).  First up, two of our favorite librarians share what they were giving away this holiday season to the l’il ‘uns.  Don’t you think these two should have their own book recommendation television show called Sharp & Schu?  I’d watch that.

Then it just gets silly:

Merry with the merry!

  3. Thanks, Betsy, for the great blog, but especially for the Riverbottom Nightmare Band reference. I just did a spit take all over my new monitor!
