I've given a lot of thought as to why Mr. Mo is so keyed into the ears of children. His perfect arrangement of words allows an economy of their use with perfectly calibrated impact.

I've had several adult not understand his appeal. My answer has always been that they should immediately gather a gaggle of willing, or unwilling if need dictates, children and read any of his book forthwith. All will become clear.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that pigeon displaces Goodnight Moon for the third spot.
