The wait is finally over…NIGHT by (Auschwitz survivor) Elie Wiesel was Oprah's Book Club pick for her National High School Essay Contest. Students in grades 9-12 are strongly encouraged to read the book then submit an essay on,"WHY IS ELIE WIESEL'S BOOK NIGHT RELEVANT TODAY?"  Visit here for entry forms.

    i think that this book is an awsome book and that it shows how people suffered because of some psyco-maniac wanted the “perfect race” and that if even one person were to do anything about it they would be killed. this book really changed my life and the way i think about the holocaust.

    Night has changed my life forever. Elie’s words and emotions touched my heart in more ways then one. He is a brilliant man with a huge heart. This book taught me how cruel people can really be even though I see it everday in the news & real life. I recommend this to everyone…. Good readings everyone! ;-)

    this book was really great, it shows wut people went thru, & how they suffered. i actually cried when i read this book, it really made me realize things that now, kids dont even understand, or care about. i think more kids should definitely read this book. it will make u think, & understand things that u werent a part of, & never want to be a part of. it will show kids that no matter how many people try to degrade u, to keep trying, no matter wut.

    I think this book was really great. This book tells us about some our history that we dont really know about..Okay we know it went on but we didnt know how the people were really treated and how hard it was. I thought this book was very educational and intreasting.. And it showes us how luckey we are for living in this day and age.

    This book has opened my eyes to what really happened to the victims of the Holocaust. It makes you wonder whether or not God cared. But i suppose if he didn’t, he would have let Hitler take over the world, right?

    one of the best books ive ever read it was heart wrenching and gave me a new perspective on every thing i cryed. its a truley moving book i will recamend it to anyone the world needs to read it to stop any thing like this from happining again no one wants to be treated like that and noone should the world dose need to know this story because whos going to stop it next time? is any one even going to relize that it is happing? we might be the people being turned into prisoners. who else has to die? dont let it happen again…

    Dear mr. Wesel you are a brave person. every day i pray for a utopian world latly i gave up. but after reading your book i will continue to pray. YOur book will forever dwell in my mind and although history will never change, i will hope people will look at the everything and say this is not worth it. LOL

    this book is an incredible eye-opener and inspiration for all of us. it is the responsibility of everyone in the world to read this book and atleast have a 2nd-hand understanding of what was going on in those camps. We all need to know how silent the rest of the world was and comprehend that something like this must NEVER happen again…

    I enjoyed reading this book and I think my teacher Mrs. Culver did a great job covering all the material. The book was sad, but I am grateful to have learned about the Holocaust.
