It's no surprise that with the right pitch and the right product ANYTHING can happen. Youtube is the perfect example.
But recently, we've seen how the indirect marketing of libraries through the MSM can keep viewers in the know when it comes to the wealth of resources they offer. Now don't get me wrong, the subject of libraries will never be the lead story of the news; unless however there's a murder or something horrific happens. But, there are tons of stories happening in and around libraries that make for a good news story. The key is finding it and pitching it to the right people.
At Nancy Dowd's blog, The M' Word, she picked up this great quote from one of her sessions. "Remember all marketing is “user driven”. It isn’t about how the library can change your life it is about changing your life at the library."
