Writers Against Racism: Students & Eracisim

A group of library information students gathered for a virtual debate to discuss the effects of multiculturalism by using the Flat Classroom Project as a model. (via Eastchester sixth-graders debate diversity in global project by Randi Weiner) After reading the article and wanting to learn more, I stumbled upon this ERACISIM video, and thought about the W.A.R. series. Students who tackle issues of racism deserve our supprot. And, ERACISIM has one objective: to erase racism worldwide. Kudos to these students!

"Differences do not make us stronger – rather they cause divisions that in the worst cases result in violence and even mass murder. By focusing on differences, we focus on divisions, on the lines that separate us rather than the commonalities that bring us together." (This quote comes via Randi Weiner’s article, and is the position statement by a team of Eastchester students who are arguing against multi-culturalism.)

Amy, thanks for adding that additional place to “click” because initially I couldn’t get the video to play. This is absolutely fantastic. This is exactly what it’s all about. These students, this school system, and these parents are to be commended for doing something about this problem in our society. Thanks for posting this! Incredible!

You’re welcome, George! I tried ALL DAY to get the video player, to no avail.

The message, while short, sends the point. I would love these students to send their thoughts to W.A.R.
