A group of library information students gathered for a virtual debate to discuss the effects of multiculturalism by using the Flat Classroom Project as a model. (via Eastchester sixth-graders debate diversity in global project by Randi Weiner) After reading the article and wanting to learn more, I stumbled upon this ERACISIM video, and thought about the W.A.R. series. Students who tackle issues of racism deserve our supprot. And, ERACISIM has one objective: to erase racism worldwide. Kudos to these students!
"Differences do not make us stronger – rather they cause divisions that in the worst cases result in violence and even mass murder. By focusing on differences, we focus on divisions, on the lines that separate us rather than the commonalities that bring us together." (This quote comes via Randi Weiner’s article, and is the position statement by a team of Eastchester students who are arguing against multi-culturalism.)
