I was honored to have my inauguration image added to the New York Times series, DOCUMENTING THE
DECADE, where readers were asked to submit photos of that which impacted the decade, through their lens.
And while I thought, standing wedged between a sea of millions, waiting to see the first black president get sworn into office was a great impact, clearly, the Writers Against Racism series, I must say topped my year.
I met writers and educators from all walks who shared their stories with us, and continue to work – through their writings – to rid this world of racism! It is a noble feat that the world needs now and will continue to need in the years ahead.
So at this time I would like to wish a happy and joyous new year to all of the W.A.R paticipants, the readers who left comments (and those who did not), and a special thanks to School Library Journal for providing their website as a forum to help us discuss these tough issues.
In the upcoming year, we will continue this journey, but I did not want to let this day pass without sharing my deepest gratitude with each and everyone of you! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Congrats on having your photo being featured in the NYT. Being at the inagural of Pres. Obama was definitely the highlight of my decade along with working on his campaign, starting a blog and meeting all these wonderful people through my blog and the W.A.R. series
Ari, thank you so much! I concur with you. What a year this has been! More lies ahead!xo
My congratulations, too, dear Amy! What a decade – and what a great note to end it on, the Writers Against Racism Movement. Thanks for everything from the bottom of my heart!! Onward and even higher upward in 2010!
George, YOU spearheaded this movement, and your friendship has been just another highlight for me. All the best to you, friend forever.
Happiest, shiniest of New Year to you! O! The times in which we live!
May your New Year be filled with magic and love for you and yours. May your courage to do W.A.R. shine brightly for a long time to come.
