Writers Against Racism: Remembering Dr. Dorothy Height and Freedom Sisters

“Greatness is not measured by what a man or woman accomplishes, but by the opposition he or she has overcome to reach his goals.” -Dorothy Height

In broadcast journalism we refer to breaking news as THIS JUST IN. We stop everything and go with the story of the day. And in education I implore teachers to do the same. Here’s a video which provides the framework for FREEDOM SISTERS, how they were chosen, and why they were/are important to remember.

PLEASE: Stop what you are teaching for 5-minutes to pay tribute to Dr. Dorothy Height.

And in an effort to remember the selfless works of the ‘Godmother’ of the Civil Rights movement, I am starting to gather resources for students and teachers to learn more about her life’s mission.

“We’ve got to work to save our children and do it with full respect for
the fact that if we do not, no one else is going to do it.”
