Writers Against Racism: EARTH DAY: A UNIVERSAL BEDTIME STORY by Barbara Lee George

It’s such an awesome job being a blogger! Really. I meet the coolest people, everyday.

Just last night, and thanks to my friend MyMia introducing me, I was on the phone with Barbara Lee George, an author/illustrator who is speaking to students today and tomorrow at the Museum of Natural History. Her new book – hot off the press – Earth Day: a Universal Story (Global Garden, 2010), is not only timely, but whose mission is all encompassing and worthy of celebrating.

The following mission statement comes via Barbara’s website:

We at Global Garden, are committed to shining a light on our world’s DIVERSITY;   Environmental, Cultural and the Arts…   Without observation we can not appreciate the grand diversity all around us nor be moved to care enough to preserve it.

We at Global Garden consider this our highest calling:

- Preserve The Environment

- Embrace Our Cultural Differences

- Celebrate The Arts

"If your school or organization is interested in scheduling a live reading, please e-mail or call ~ as every day is Earth Day!"  I’ve invited Ms. George to speak at my school and will have updates for you in a future blog post.
