There’s a good variety of titles on the list this week. For the first time in quite some time, Boom! Studios does NOT dominate the list. Bone: Tall Tales – Revisit the world of Bone in this prequel title. Smiley Bone sits down with a group of young campers to retell the tales of Boneville’s origin and its tough, no-nonsense founder Big Johnson Bone, who discovered Rolling Bone River and founded Boneville. But, since little is actually known of Big Johnson Bone’s adventures before then, what follows are a series of tall tales told with wild antics complete with rat creatures, dragons and a snarky little monkey! Bone has been a hit with both kids and adults, so this new series of stories, now in color and collected in one volume with new material, will sure to be hit in any library.

Archie & Friends All-Stars Volume 5: Archies Haunted House TP – Even though Halloween is traditionally the month for telling spooky stories, sitting by a campfire and telling them is also a fun summer activity. This book has such 6 stories including ‘House of Riverdale’, a story written by Batton Lash of the Archie: Freshman Year stories. It features the gang trying to save a historic house from being torn down and ending up with them going against an evil entity. Also included is a special appearance from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Whether you want to get your scare on now, or start preparing for Halloween, this collection of spooky tales is ready to scare you silly!

  1. Hi, Lori! The Moomin books you list are *not* comics; they are a series of traditional novels with illustrations sprinkled throughout the story. (I believe there are nine in total.) These are distinct from the Moomin comics, which appeared in European newspapers in the 1950s and 1960s, after the novels became popular. Drawn and Quarterly has the North American license for the Moomin comics, as well as the Moomin picture books for young readers.
