Picks:

Puppy Sister All ages comics and manga for 11/24/10Puppy Sister GN – This title is based on a book written by S.E. Hinton, a well known writer of young adult fiction, back in the 1990’s. Bluewater Productions is now releasing the graphic novel of this touching family story. Aleasha is a tri-color Australian Shepherd that has just been adopted by Nick and his parents. Aleasha really wants to belong and have fun with her new family, which she believes she can do if she becomes human. This adventure filled with laughs is told from Aleasha’s point of view as she transforms from puppy to girl. While Bluewater seems to have been spending most of its time with biography comics lately, it is nice to see them bring out a book with a solid story that kids can enjoy. You can also check out a preview of the first few pages here.

Thor Mighty Avenger 6 197x300 All ages comics and manga for 11/24/10Thor: The Mighty Avenger #6 – With the Thor movie coming to theaters in the coming year, Marvel has been doing all it can to get the Norse God of Thunder on reader’s radar. This particular series is written for the tween audience, and re-images Thor in a way that makes it easy for a new reader to come in and not be lost in years of history and canon. In this issue, Thor is getting closer to uncovering the mystery of why he was thrown out of Asgard. But he gets sidetracked by the appearance of the dragon Fin Fang Foom! This title has gotten a lot of good press from comics reviewers and readers alike. And Marvel has gotten just as many boos for making this an 8 issue series.

I guess this version of Thor is a little young for me. That said as a Marvel Thor fan since August 1962 I will read all things “Thor” and have enjoyed this.
