Inside Good Comics For Kids

It’s the last list of 2010, and it seems the year will go out with a whisper instead of a bang. It’s a small list, but it’s also the fifth Wednesday in the month, which has traditionally been small. Ape Entertainment continues their licensed titles from Dreamworks, and the little kids have plenty to read from DC and Marvel with Tiny Titans and Super Hero Squad. Check out the picks for some choice books to ring in the new year.

The Picks:

Archie & Friends All-Stars volume 7: Betty & Veronica Storybook – The world of Archie invades the land of fairy tales! Once upon a time, there were two beautiful girls who were the best of friends, until a handsome prince came along. They both fell madly in love with him. Is this the end of their friendship? Or can they find a happily ever after ending? This new trade casts Betty and Veronica in the roles of characters from stories and fairy tales, and collects the stories “Betty in Wonderland”, “Sleeping Betty”, “There’s No Place Like Riverdale” and “A Tale of Two  Cinderellas”. Kids will enjoy this twist on some of their favorite stories set in the Archie universe.

Young Sherlock Holmes Adventures – See how Sherlock Holmes’ teenage years might have been like. It’s a race against time as teenage Holmes and his friends try to solve the mystery of the London Vampire before he strikes again. It is a case of murder, mystery and menace as Holmes attempts to discover the secrets on the streets of Victorian London, while the mysterious “Agency” tries to recruit him. Sherlock Holmes has been very popular this year with re-tellings as well as new tales like this one. With lots of action and Holmes the same age as the target audience, this could be a surprise hit with tweens.
