Toon Books recently re-launched its iPhone app with three free titles: Silly Lilly, Jack and the Box, and Little Mouse Gets Ready. Brigid Alverson test-drove Little Mouse Gets Ready, and pronounced it a great alternative to the hardbound edition. For a small fee, users can purchase audio versions in multiple languages — a great way to help beginning readers make the connection between sounds and letters.

The folks at Comics Alliance have posted a preview of Kaboom’s brand-new Duck Tales comic, which arrives in stores this week.

Graphic Novel Reporter offers a sneak peak at the Hottest Graphic Novels of Summer 2011. As an added bonus, the editors have broken out recommendations by age group, with separate lists for kids, tweens, and teens.

David Welsh lists ten reasons to love Cross Game, Mitsuru Adachi’s manga about a pair of baseball wunderkinds.

What TOKYOPOP titles would you like to see rescued from licensing purgatory? Deb Aoki put the question to her readers earlier this week. Not surprisingly, unfinished series such as Alice in the Country of Hearts, Aria, Deadman Wonderland, Hetalia: Axis Powers, Loveless, Shinobi Life, and V.B. Rose nabbed the most votes, though perennial favorites such as Fake and Fruits Basket also appeared on many fans’ wish-lists.

And speaking of TOKYOPOP, Lori Henderson wonders what will become of titles like Erin Hunter’s Warriors and Meg Cabot’s Avalon High, which were among the publisher’s best-selling graphic novels.
