On Sunday, June 26th, while attending the American Library Association’s Annual Conference in New Orleans, I ran around to as many of my favorite kids comics creators as I could and asked them all the exact same questions. Keep in mind, exhibit halls are crazy loud and crazy busy, so there is a lot of background noise. Let me know in the comments if you have trouble hearing anything and I’ll translate for you.
Poor Chris Giarrusso. Chris got stuck sitting next to me at dinner and next thing he knew he was being pulled away from his meal to answer my five questions. So let this be a warning to you: Beware the mild-mannered librarian who carries a pink Flip Video.
I knew Chris was the creator of the G-MAN series of graphic novels, because the kids in my library keep asking me for more of them. But I’d never put Chris the G-MAN guy together with Chris the Mini Marvels guy. Was I blind? Maybe. Shut up.
Books mentioned in this video:
- The Complete Peanuts, by Charles Schulz
- The Mighty Skullboy Army, by Jacob Chabot
- The Cay, by Theodore Taylor
