Links: Aw Yeah! Comics goes digital

It’s been a while since we have done one of these, so there’s quite a bit to read here. Let’s start with two stories I had a hand in: I talked to Uglydolls co-creator David Horvath and artist Ian McGinty about Uglydolls in general and the comic version they are producing for Viz, and I caught a scoop at C2E2: Mark Waid is launching a Thrillbent Kids site, and he will be publishing Art Baltazar and Franco Aureliani’s Aw Yeah! Comics line digitally; the comics are available now via comiXology. Baltazar and Aureliani are the team behind DC’s Tiny Titans comics; they have brought in an array of other creators to help with their new line.

All hail Heidi MacDonald, who has written the ultimate article on graphic novels and libraries at Publishers Weekly; check it out and you will see many, many familiar faces.

And over at our fellow blog Connect the Pop, Professor Carol Tilley sets forth five simple things it’s easy to overlook about comics.

Gene Luen Yang talks about his Avatar the Last Airbender graphic novels in a video interview at CBR.

Writer Prudence Shen and artist Faith Erin Hicks talk about their new graphic novel, Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong, at Finding Wonderland.

At Comic Attack, Drew McCabe talks to Emily Martin, the artist behind one of our favorite series here at GC4K, Princeless.

Writer Paul Kupperberg discusses the tangled world of Life With Archie and his new Kevin Keller prose novel with CBR’s Alex Dueben.

Katie Cook talks to CBR about her latest My Little Pony micro-series, “Rarity.”

Richard Bruton takes a look at last week’s issue of The Phoenix, which is available digitally to U.S. readers.

Dan Seitz offers some suggestions for finding good comics for kids.
