The pair go to a neighboring valley to investigate an estate, but instead of ghosts and demons, they find an elderly couple and their young daughter Yunu. He and the crew, sailors also lost in time, rescue a shipwrecked girl, Serena. John wants to return Serena to her own time, but to do so means putting them in danger from Dahlberg Corporation and its ambitious leader who has plans for the world far greater and more terrible than anyone has realized.
