Here’s some big news from Scholastic: Best-selling middle-grade author Tui Sutherland will be adapting her Wings of Fire series into graphic novels, with help from Secret Coders artist Mike Holmes. Sutherland is a graphic novel fan herself—and she enjoys reading them with her children—so when Scholastic asked if she would like to adapt her dragon stories, it was a no-brainer.

In case you missed it, IDW Publishing will be launching an all ages Star Wars series, to be titled Star Wars Adventures, in September. I talked to IDW president and COO Greg Goldstein about those comics as well as their other all ages titles, which include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and new Tangled and DuckTales comics.

In a Free Comic Book Day interview, writer Jay Lender and artist R. Sikoryak discuss Spongebob Comics and offer some recommendations for other great kids’ comics.

Looking for suggestions? Afraid you missed something? Paste Magazine has done the required reading and brings you a list of 50 of the best kids’ comics.

Voting wraps up on June 17 for the Kids Comics Awards, which feature a variety of categories from “Most Epic Adventure” to “Favorite Graphic Novel About Lunch.” Only kids can vote for these awards.

Librarians and GC4K contributors Robin Brenner and Mike Pawuk join comics writers Marjorie Liu and Charles Soule for the webcast Graphically Different: A Discussion on Diversity in Comics and Graphic Novels today at 3 p.m. ET. Missed it? You can sign up at the link to get an archived copy.
