Preview: ‘Batman Tales: Once Upon a Crime’

The newest DC middle-grade graphic novel takes Batman out of the grim-n-gritty milieu of The Dark Knight and its successors and takes it in a new direction: Spinoffs of traditional children’s stories, with twisted-tale dialogue by writer Derek Fridolfs and luminous watercolors by artist Dustin Nguyen. We have a preview of one of the stories, “Alfred in Wonderland,” and we’re following it up with an interview with both the creators, who previously teamed up on Batman: Li’l Gotham. The book will be released on February 11. Enjoy!
