If you’ve been wondering exactly what a Mock Newbery is…I’ll point you back to Sharon’s post from last fall, So You Want to be a Mock Newbery Star? For a flashback of our Mock Newbery discussion last year, check out Anatomy of a Mock Newbery.
Last year I’d hoped to lead people through the intricate recesses of the Newbery Manual. But it was being revised, and wasn’t available online. Now it’s here, for all to see. Take a look! Not for the faint of heart, but it does lay out all the procedures by which the committee operates…including who tackles eligibility issues and how, as Jonathan alludes to in his post yesterday. Infinitesimal Minutiea indeed. To Newbery nerds that could spell "fun."

Thanks for posting the link to the updated Newbery Manual. I’d like to point out the addition of the last appendix which provides examples of the definitions. You can read, for example, just why HOW I LIVE NOW might have been eligible, but why ERAGON was most definitely not. Fascinating stuff for us Newbery nerds.
Nina, do you know how it was revised? And why?
