As far as SPARROW ROAD goes, I mentioned it before because I knew that it does fit into the "typical" Newbery package. I also had some problems with the resolution of the novel in respect to the orphans dilemma. However, I did think the resolution with her father was realistic . . . it wasn't perfect, happily-ever-after. I think as a child reader, this would have bothered me, but as an adult, I recognize it to be realistic. I'm not sure if this one falls in my top 10 or just shy of it.

I'm about halfway through THE GRAND PLAN TO FIX EVERYTHING right now and I have FREEDOM MAZE all ready to go!

Count me as a fan of THE GRAND PLAN TO FIX EVERYTHING as well. My problem is that it goes in the light and funny basket with PENDERWICKS and PIE and I think I pull both of them out first. So I'm in the curious position of hoping that other people can put it in their top three or top five even if I myself cannot.
