		<description>Susan, I think that traditionally the Mid-Winter has had fewer authors in attendance.  I think that is at least partly because the librarians and publishers want to concentrate on other business at this conference.  As an author, I am really glad there&#039;s no tradition of bringing the potential winners to the conference so they can all stand around trying not to look chagrinned when they don&#039;t get an award.</description>

		<description>In reading the SLJ interviews with Gantos and Raschka, I noticed they were at home or studio when they received the call about winning.  I would have thought that their publishers might have had them at their ALA booths, along with other authors of 2011 books.  Is this the norm?</description>
