netvibes enhanced!
I must admit, I’ve been a longtime fan of iGoogle and PageFlakes for organizing my own information life and for helping me to guide students in doing the same. Netvibes is now a far more serious contender for my personal portal app love.
Last night netvibes launched the ability to create and publish Multiple Personalized Pages (or MPPs).
MPPs allow us to create and customize multiple pages with multiple tabs and fill them with widgets and feeds. The new ability to publish pages allows us to share pages as pathfinders, references tools, and perhaps as library homepages. PageFlakes has offered its publishing feature for some time and I have used it to death. (To my knowledge, iGoogle does not yet allow publishing.)

The impressive netvibes ecosystem allows you to search among a wealth of widget and feed options, as well as the ability to suggest additions and create your own widgets. Netvibe’s essential widgets help manage your world with calendars, to-do-lists, weather, Twitter, RSS, news, mail, social bookmarks, file storage, shopping, etc. The application also offers a variety of themes and options for layouts.

The Social Nerdia blog shared contributor’s Anna Clark’s netvibe pages:
She has a public page where she shares her tweets, RSS feeds, and other information with the whole world. Anna also has several private pages, including one for Social Nerdia (Anna stays on top of everything tech through this page), one about the Barcelona soccer team (Anna’s a huge fan), and one in which she can manage her personalized page for The Daily Influence.
Here’s what it looked like as I played around with making a public current events page:
