You can participate in an exciting NCCE Teacher Librarian Summit occurring today, March 3, from 9 AM to 4PM Pacific. Michael Eisenberg, of the University of Washington, and the Spokane Moms will lead a large group of teacher-librarians in retooling and rethinking strategies for making the library a technology and information learning center for their school. NCCE TL Summit is hosted by Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE). To follow along on Twitter, use the hashtag: #ncceTL
The Summit wiki should have information on accessing the streaming (and, later, the archive).
The Moms and I developed a wiki for our own session and I worked on a few new videos to share with the help of our student volunteers.
I thought I’d share those videos, as well as another wonderful video created for the event by author Laurence Gonzales, in the hope that they may be useful at your own events.

Maya’s Dewey and the Spirits fable, with nods to Charles Dickens, may present a rough message at the beginning, but please watch it through to its powerful ending.

I prepared this wordless video, Why School Libraries?, to define the role of school libraries and the impact the funding crisis will have on learners.

Imagine strong school libraries
It’s easy if you try
Imagine student inquiry
Access all the time
Imagine children learning
Information skillsYou may say that we’re dreamers
But our work cannot be done
Till we ensure strong school libraries
For our children, everyoneImagine student equity
It isn’t hard to do
Access to the new tools
Books in formats new
Kids who can communicate,
Interpret global viewsYou may say that we’re dreamers
But our work cannot be done
Till we ensure strong school libraries
For our children, everyoneChildren sharing stories
Searching for new truth
Evaluating media
Building knowledge too
Kids as digital citizens
Publishing their workYou may say that we’re dreamers
But our work cannot be done
Till we ensure strong school libraries
For our children, everyone
Inspired by Imagine, John Lennon
