Crisis Webinar tomorrow night!
Join us tomorrow night for a special TLCafé Webinar!
It’s no secret that–while this may be the most exciting time ever to be a teacher librarian–we face a serious crisis.
Actually, it’s the learners we serve who face a crisis, as across the nation teacher librarians see their budgets, their support, and their positions cut.
It’s well beyond time to put our heads together (virtually) if we want to see this generation of young people, and those who follow, become effective users and producers of ideas and information.
Join us in a special crisis planning webinar at the TLCafé.
Here are the details:
Monday, April 19, 2010 from 8:00 to 9:00 PM Eastern, at our Elluminate room.
Our special guests will be Chris Harris and Buffy Hamilton. The session will be hosted by Gwyneth Jones and Carolyn Foote. (Don’t miss Carolyn’s post today on the Spokane Moms’ advocacy presentation at TLA.)

Keep in mind that this webinar is a crisis planning session for moving forward with purpose! It is a no whining zone.
Please join us!
Remember, that other TLCafé events, are scheduled for the first Monday night of each month. We welcome your membership and your input.
A number of librarians outside of the US wrote of their concern that not everyone thinks in east coast time and that they cannot stay awake all night to attend our sessions.
Some suggested that we use this fixed time chart to clarify the schedule. (Great idea!)
We are trying to archive the sessions on the wiki. And we can also choose to expand the Café to other dates and times. LearnCentral’s Steve Hargadon has generously given us this space and that leaders around the world are welcome to plan additional sessions.
Remember to visit the Elluminate room early, allowing around 10 minutes to login!
As for tomorrow night’s session, Buffy shares a little preview of her points:
Epigenetics posits that "nature" or external influences can yield significant changes in the cellular material of the epigenome and result in significant change in a short time to the genome. We will look at 5 “librarian Iifestyle changes” we can make as library professional to “express" and "flip on" our best qualities so that we can evolve and adapt to the changing landscape/environment to become more effective librarians, and consequently, library programs.
