Book Trailers for All updated
I met Teresa Schauer working with the SLJ folks on the Trailee Awards. She was the powerhouse and guiding force of our committee.
You may know I am a big fan of creative energy. Teresa’s got it in buckets! And Teresa loves trailers!
She emailed me this week to share recent improvements in her fabulous Book Trailers for All portal.
Teresa wrote:
We’ve totally revamped the website and it’s much easier to navigate. We’ve also added a search feature so users can search for trailers by title, author, interest level, program used in creation, trailer creator, and subject area tag.
And you’ve gotta love this idea:
We’re about halfway through getting labels made for QR codes so that librarians can put them on the books and students can scan them with their smart phone and be taken straight to the trailer on either You Tube or the main site. I’ve just started using the tags in my own library and the kids are CRAZY about it. I f you get time, I’d love for you to check it out!
Some background on Book Trailers for All:
This site was created as a way for people to share their self-created book trailers. All trailers shared with BTFA are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivs 3.0 Unported (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0) What does this mean, exactly? It means you are free to show, download, and share these trailers, as long as they are not modified, and attribution to the creator is given.
Most trailers were created by teachers, students or librarians, but a few of the trailers were created by publishers, or authors. The most important thing to note is that all of them are here for you to use, so feel free!
Our main folders for download are located at 4shared.com. If your school filters out the site, all of the trailers are also available here:
On You Tube | |
On Teacher Tube (You must sign up for an account and request/be approved of membership to view trailers)
We announce via Twitter each time a new trailer is posted. (The Twitter announcement takes you to the 4shared link)
We also announce new trailers on our Facebook page. (If you “like” our page, the announcements will be on your wall) |
By far, the most useful page on this site is our Documents page. Here you will find an assortment of documents such as:
A spreadsheet containing details on every book for which there is a trailer
Directions for joining Teacher Tube
Directions for sharing your trailers
Tips for making your own book trailers
And more! |
