SLJ’s Innovator Basecamp
I am just home from Boston where I attended SLJ’s inaugural Innovator Basecamp.
Don’t get me wrong. I love attending conferences where I see my dear friends, some of whom I grew up with as a baby librarian.
But yesterday, when I asked how many of the participants in my morning session were new librarians, nearly every hand went up.
Several of those new librarians were (afternoon) presenters and many of them are already active sharers and networkers. Like so many of my own dear Rutgers students and recent grads, they had clear, powerful enthusiastic voices. It was a thrill to meet and welcome and mentor them. It was a thrill to hear and celebrate the new voices that will move our field forward. I so hope we do more celebrating!
Get a flavor of the event and some of those new voices in this Storify.
(Note: I couldn’t be everywhere and not everything was shared equally on social media. Please share anything I may have missed in comments and I will happily add and edit.)
