Penquin’s Storytime and YA Central

Have you visited www.penguin.com/thepublishersoffice for their new online programming: Penguin Storytime and YA Central, two online video series featuring full 30-minute episodes (broken into smaller segments) including interviews with Jon Scieszka, Judy Schachner, Laurie Halse Anderson, Lauren Myracle, and John Green.

From the publisher’s office we learn these are designed for teachers, librarians, parents, children and teens. Penguin Storytime and YA Central give viewers intimate access to today’s most celebrated books and authors, providing them with content that can’t be found anywhere else.

Penguin Storytime brings new and classic picture books to life. Each episode begins with an interview featuring an award-winning author and/or illustrator, hosted by Penguin educational marketing specialist Kim Lauber. The first two interviews on Penguin Storytime feature bestselling author/illustrator Judy Schachner and the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, Jon Scieszka.

YA Central is the go-to destination for trends in teen literature and fascinating conversations with award-winning young adult authors. Debut episodes include interviews with authors Laurie Halse Anderson and Lauren Myracle, who speak candidly with students at the Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School in New York City; and author John Green chats with teens at the Hennepin County Library in Minneapolis, Minnesota. These and other writers share insights into the stories behind their books, which deal with such contemporary YA issues as suicide, eating disorders and teen pregnancy.

I lost a couple hours of my Wednesday clicking all the video links, nings, author website links, commentaries, etc. I’m definitely putting this on my school webpage with links for students and teachers.
