ALA Events – Meet authors Anastasia Suen and Donald Lemke

Capstone Publishing has two authors (Anastasia Suen and Donald Lemke) signing in their ALA Conference Booths 1939-1940. Since they have a limited number of complementary copies, you’ll have to beat me there. Anastasia Suen, 2009 ALA conference panelist, educator, prolific blogger, and author of more than 100 books for children, will sign copies of her acclaimed nonfiction and new fiction titles from Picture Window Books and Stone Arch Books following her “Nonfiction Book Blast: Booktalks for Reluctant Readers” ALA conference program session on Sunday.

She will sign copies of The U.S. Supreme Court, a featured title from the panel discussion, and Uncle Sam, part of the acclaimed American Symbols nonfiction picture book series from Picture Window Books. Anastasia Suen will also sign titles from the brand new Stone Arch Readers series published for fall 2009.

Anastasia Suen is a children’s literature consultant, online workshop instructor, staff development presenter, children’s book blogger, and former elementary school teacher. She has authored more than 114 books for children, including titles from the award-winning Wild Animals series and wildly popular Jake Maddox series. I follow her blogging at 6 Traits (officially called Picture Book of the Day: Using Picture Books to Teach the Six Traits of Writing) and 5 Great Books. I’ve written about how popular Jake Maddox is before and hope you are listening, readers. Signing times:

Sunday   July 12, 2009:    1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Monday July 13, 2009:  11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Graphic novelist and Capstone Publisher’s author Donald Lemke will sign his best-selling titles from Stone Arch Books and Capstone Press at ALA 2009. Capstone Publishers proudly showcases author Donald Lemke, who will sign copies of his celebrated Stone Arch Books titles Zinc Alloy vs. Frankenstein and the 2008 Junior Library Guild Premier Selection Captured Off Guard: The Attack on Pearl Harbor, as well as his popular Capstone Press title Investigating the Scientific Method with Max Axiom at ALA 2009.

Donald Lemke works as a children’s book editor and writer. He is the author of the Zinc Alloy graphic novel adventure series. He also wrote Captured Off Guard, a World War II story, and a graphic novelization of Gulliver’s Travels, both of which were selected by the Junior Library Guild. Most recently, he has written several BATMAN adventures for DC SUPER HEROES chapter books. Hey, readers, I really like these books and they are always checked out so I need to pop by and say "HI!" May I also express my frustration that Google searches for authors make me look through tons of purchasing sites, then library OPACS, before I get to anything of interest…

Saturday July 11, 2009:                 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. CST
Sunday July 12, 2009:                    11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CS
