I love having teachers return from summer break and rush in to show me what books they bought. I heard from the teachers who love young adult books and helping students in need. I heard from the In School Suspension teacher who found excellent nonfiction books from Blackbirch press at Ole’ Time Pottery. With interesting facts about the things that matter to our troubled youth like how to start a car and how cell phones really work, these books will be favorites.
I can’t wait to meet with one of my favorite teachers on Monday who turned in all her old paperbacks from her personal collection at home to get in-store credit to buy books for her classroom. These are the heroes you don’t see in the press. They may have been on vacation, but they were focused upon their students and anticipating their needs every day of their summer.
