		<description>I sort of thought someone else would chime in here, but since no one else has, here&#039;s my two cents: I fall somewhere between Sophie and Jonathan. I wouldn&#039;t put it in my top 10 YA or Children&#039;s books for the year, but I do think that it is a remarkable piece of work, much better than a B-/C+ for literariness.  I found the prose to be well above average - at least a strong B+, and I thought the whole style of interlocking vignettes worked very well to tell a long life story in a blessedly short space (didn&#039;t get a sense of plodding at all). I also completely disagree about Calvin and Snooze - I was actually surprised to find out that they were fictional and would be shocked if there aren&#039;t many real people whose experiences closely matched those two.

As I said, I&#039;m not arguing for this to win any awards, but I think it&#039;s a strong book that deserves a strong readership.</description>
