I agree with Liz. OUT OF REACH didn't impress me as being quite distinguished enough for the Printz, but I think ENDANGERED is a contender.

Ha, just checked my review for OUT OF REACH and noted the tight plotting. Here is the thing: it is tightly plotted in that it all takes place over 24 hours, and Arcos does a great job of using flashbacks to fill in enough backstory while moving forward during those 24 hours. My "but" is that I think too much happens in those 24 hours, if that makes sense.

OUT OF REACH: I think this is a strong Morris contender; a good recommendation for readers who like realistic fiction and a different take on drug addiction (ie from the affected family members). Putting on my Printz lenses, I think there are some plotting flaws -- a little too much going on during the 24 hours that the main character searches for her brother, if that makes sense. Tho, the intended reader will like all the stuff going on, I'm sure, so there's that!

ENDANGERED: Add it to the list for Printz possibilities. Extremely strong writing in terms of style, character, setting, and plotting.
