Forget my stats -- Kelly (of Stacked) did an AMAZING stat-filled post at the hub. Just go read that: http://www.yalsa.ala.org/thehub/2012/12/13/2012-best-of-lists-by-the-numbers/

ALA posted a press release yesterday with the Booklist Editors' Choice Top of the List selections - DODGER by Pratchett is Top of Youth Fiction (which includes YA); THE FAIRY RING by Losure is Top of Youth Non-Fiction (and too young for the Printz), but my favorite choice is CODE NAME VERITY for Top of Audio! Looks like, according to their Twitter feed, the full Editors' Choice lists will be posted online Tuesday, 12/18. Which will just leave the Bulletin on January 1st! It looks like VOYA doesn't do a best list per se, but considers the books that receive Perfect 10s (5Q, 5P) throughout the year to be their Best List. I know some of you have far more experience with VOYA than I do though, so please correct that info as needed!

I think DRAMA is definitely a youngish YA, certainly not middle grade. I commented in my review (and the author's acknowledgments seem to bear this out) that the book felt much more like high school than middle school to me on multiple levels (characters, situations, setting)--my impression is that it's based at least in part on the author's high school experiences. It seems somewhat innocent, but is closer to reality for many kids and teens. It's a good one for 11-15.

I've read Drama too, and I'd say it's target audience is middle schoolers - which means that it could come in on Printz terms as being for 14 year olds. I liked it a lot, have recommended it widely, but I don't think that it's going to be a top contender, even without factoring in biases against graphic novels and books that skew very much towards the younger end of the Printz age range.

I've read Drama (you are talking about the graphic novel, right?) and I am pretty certain it's not YA, more of MG. At my library it is shelved as MG as well.
