Mockingjay Tour
How do you promote a book without ARCs?
Why, a blog tour! The Mockingjay 13 District Blog Tour with each blog representing a different district.
District 1 is at GalleySmith; SciFiGuy is District 2; Word for Teens, District 3; GreenBeanTeenQueen, District 4; and so on. Each blog has unique content, such as highlighting a particular character, and there are some cool giveaways like a Mockingjay Fleece Throw.
Also fun: The Facebook Page for the Hunger Games books.
Since one of the things I like about books is seeing how they are marketed — and wondering, also, does a book like Mockingjay even need marketing? — I was interested in Publishers Weekly report, Marketing ‘Mockingjay’. My favorite quote? ““I’ve never worked on a project that was so top secret,” said David Levithan, v-p and editorial director at Scholastic. “I actually had to wipe the file from my laptop when I was done with it, for fear that I’d be the guy who leaves his laptop in a taxi and ends up ruining it for everyone.” Too bad Andy Sachs! Miranda Priestly’s daughters won’t get these ARCs before camp!
