2011 Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers
The 2011 Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers was announced at Midwinter. The charge for this list is to select titles for “reluctant young adult readers,” who are defined as people who for “whatever reasons, do not like to read.” Any of you who are members of the CCBC Net listserv know that “reluctant readers” can mean many different things.
When the Quick Picks make their decisions about this list, they strive to include all types of reluctant readers. In considering the list the put together, teen appeal is important; teen input is encouraged.

It’s always interesting to see what a wide range of books are selected by Quick Picks; and also to see what books win the most YALSA awards/lists: literary (Printz), best (BFYA), and popular (Quick Picks). For nonfiction, with the change of BBYA to BFYA, the third list would be the Non Fiction vetted nominations list.
Check out the YALSA site for the full list, as well as the wonderful annotations for the books.
