The Edwards Award “honors an author, as well as a specific body of his or her work, for significant and lasting contribution to young adult literature. The annual award is administered by YALSA and sponsored by School Library Journal magazine. It recognizes an author’s work in helping adolescents become aware of themselves and addressing questions about their role and importance in relationships, society, and in the world.”

If you are a member of YALSA, you can vote in the upcoming election.
The Edwards Award is celebrated at ALA Annual; this year, it’s a brunch. Having attended a luncheon or two where I’ve had to leave early (sometimes in the middle of a speech) because of committee obligations, I appreciate the new time.
If you’re a candidate in any upcoming ALA elections, please share in the comments!
(Edited to correct date mistake pointed out in comments….running in 2014 for a place on the 2016 Edwards Committee, that will read books in 2015 and announce in 2016.)
