Not on The Yarn: The Cult of Pedagogy

Colby: This past week I got an email from Mrs. Woolworth about the latest episode of The Cult of Pedagogy. Mrs. Woolworth is an amazing teacher in my district, that is always trying to get better. I subscribe to The Cult of Pedagogy podcast, but I hadn’t listened to the latest episode. Mrs. Woolworth’s endorsement moved it to the top of my listening list.

In the episode host Jennifer Gonzalez talks with teacher Shveta Miller about the amazing graphic novel writing work her students are doing. I got so many ideas for writer’s workshop in my own classroom from this episode.

To give the episode a listen, click on the image below. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

  1. Hi there, this is Shveta Miller, the teacher who wrote the post you mention in this article. I’m thrilled to hear that my experience teaching graphic novels has inspired you. I follow your work, and I’m honored that my students and I have given you something meaningful to work on with your own students. I’m developing the ideas I wrote about in the CoP post for my book about teaching graphic novels – coming out in 2021 from Times 10 Publications. If you do use the ideas from my article with your students, I’d be interested in interviewing you for the book. Reach out (@ShvetaMiller or shvetamiller.com) if you are interested in collaborating, have questions, or would be willing to share how teaching graphic novels is impacting your students.
