A Walk Down Memory Lane: The 2011 Opening Ceremony

Author Elizabeth Partridge’s exemplary use of archival materials for last year’s winner Marching for Freedom inspired the Battle Commander (both halves of her) to spend some enjoyable hours poking around in the BoB’s vast attic of old stuff (the official BoB term for primary sources) to find a selection for use in this year’s Opening Ceremony. Enjoy!

  1. I love it! What program did you use to create this?

  2. I am trembling with excitement! I cannot wait for March 14!

  3. Fun! I’m wearing my BoB t-shirt today in honor of the opening ceremonies.

I hope the books are warming up their muscles. Go, CONSPIRACY OF KINGS!

  4. Ooh, will there be t-shirts again this year?

  5. Battle Commander says:

The Roxanne-half of the BC did the video, but I believe she started by using a slideshow template in Iphoto.

  6. Battle Commander says:

The template is in iMovie — and I just did a bit of tweaking after we did our researches and found all the archival materials from the last two years of matches.

  7. Elizabeth Partridge says:

Nice use of primary sources. Glad to be an inspiration!
    Let the battle begin!!

  8. What a touching tribute, I’m all over verklempt.

I got my t-shirt out as well. Did I mention that Elizabeth Partridge signed it?

    Well she did!

  9. I cannot believe that Elizabeth Partridge, the winner of the 2010 battle, commented on the Peanut Gallery! All things considered, I am quoting the author when I say, Let the battle begin!

  10. go Will Grayson, Will Grayson!
