Show Some Love, Vote for the Undead!

Although the 2012 Battle of the Kids’ Books won’t officially begin until March 13, there is an “underground movement” already on its way.

Yup! The Undead Voting Vault opens its doors today — and will remain open until Sunday, March 11th — so everyone following the Battle has a chance to support their beloved titles to the bitter end!

The Contender that receives the highest vote count among the 14 previously eliminated titles will be unearthed and dusted for presentation in front of The Big Kahuna.  Our final judge, Jonathan Stroud, will read it along with the final pair of books.

You have one vote.  Consider it carefully.  Give your favorite underdog a fighting chance to win the 2012 BoB Title!

  1. I was trying to decide between Daughter of Smoke & Bone and Chime. Then I got to thinking. I really love Okay for Now, and am sad it didn’t get Newbery Honor. It seems people love it or hate it, so I can easily imagine it falling out of the competition early because it doesn’t hit a judge who loves it. But that’s a book I’d really like to see get another chance if it falls out early. So I cast my vote for Okay for Now.

  2. Battle Commander says:

Sondy, thanks for sharing your thought on this. We wonder what others think and what might be the top choices!

  3. I adore Chime, but it seems to be a polarizing book. I’m hoping the judges love it as much as I do, but it’s better to be safe than sorry, so it has my vote.

  4. Sondy, I’m with you. Let’s vote early and often!

  5. One vote you say? I say Zombies are all about second chances!

  6. I’ve just finished Life: An Exploded Diagram but I think it may have the hardest opening round because A Monster Calls was just incredible. I love the way the brackets are chosen, but each year I have to gnash my teeth over some of the matches. So Life will get my vote.

  7. This wasn’t difficult for me. OKAY FOR NOW all the way!

  8. Genevieve says:

Sondy, DaNae, Mr. H., I’m with you.

  9. Sam Bloom says:

Daughter of Smoke and Bone got my vote, because it blew me away when I read it. I decided to eschew logic and just go with my favorite – hope it works!

  10. I’m reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone right now (it’s the last one for me) and I’m really impressed with the writing. Personally, I don’t think Dead End in Norvelt stands much of a chance against it.

  11. You know, after I voted, I got to thinking that my ultimate final round choices would be Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Chime, and Okay for Now. But since DoS and Chime are in the same bracket, that will only happen if one of them wins the undead poll. So I wish I’d voted for Daughter of Smoke and Bone. But oh well! It will be fun to see what happens.
