2014 Judge: Robin LaFevers

While Robin LaFevers has never trained as an assassin or joined a convent, she is a recovering Catholic who has fired a bow, drawn a knife, and grown up to be hopelessly enamored of life’s mysteries, thus perfectly preparing her to participate in SLJ’s Battle of the Books. She is also not ashamed to admit that she believed fairy tales were non-fiction far longer than was socially acceptable. Robin is the author of books about assassin nuns, including Grave Mercy, Dark Triumph, and the upcoming Mortal Heart (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, November 2014.) Visit her website at

  1. Yay! I wish the assassin nuns were in this fight. (The competition wouldn’t have a chance!) But this is the next best thing.

  2. Dodie Ownes says:

Robin totally rocked on the historical fiction panel during SummerTeen 2013 – she admitted (as do many hist-fi writers) that doing the research is the best part of the writing experience.

  3. MORTAL HEART! YES! November? NOOOOO! Oh, and welcome Ms. LaFevers!
