2014 Judge: Sheila Turnage
Sheila Turnage lives on a farm in North Carolina with her husband, their finicky dog, a dozen chickens and a flock of hysterical guineas. In between driving into town for chicken feed and cooking for the dog, she writes novels for middle grade readers. Her first, Three Times Lucky, features Miss Moses LoBeau and Dale Earnhardt Johnson III. It won a Newbery Honor and made the New York Times Bestsellers List. Mo and Dale’s second mystery, The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing, has just come out and has received four starred reviews.
Still, the chickens are not impressed.
Sheila’s currently writing a third Mo & Dale mystery, and is delighted to be part of SLJ’s Battle of the Books!
